Senior goaltender Alexa Dobchuk made 52 saves as the St. Thomas women’s hockey team lost 6-0 to No. 2 Ohio State Sunday at St. Thomas Ice Arena.

The Tommies (1-9-0, 0-8-0 WCHA) lost their seventh straight game and were swept in series against Minnesota State-Mankato and St. Cloud leading up to the sweep by the Buckeyes (10-1-1, 10-1-1). The Tommies lost Saturday’s game against Ohio State 4-0.

St. Thomas seemingly kept Ohio State under wraps for the majority of the first period as the Buckeyes managed only one goal on a shot that blew through traffic and went under Dobchuk’s pads.

First-year defender Emma Peschel extended the Buckeyes’ lead two minutes into the second period, putting them ahead 2-0.

Continuing their second-period scoring barrage, Buckeye graduate forward Gabby Rosenthal made it 3-0 at 9:37, and graduate defender Sophie Jaques made it 4-0 just 29 seconds later.

Rosenthal and Peschel each scored again in the third period. St. Thomas couldn’t get much going either offensively or defensively the entire game.

The Tommies take on Lindenwood next on Nov. 10 in St. Charles, Missouri, at 11:30 a.m.
