Multiple on-campus burglaries under investigation

Public Safety emailed the St. Thomas community about seven “recent thefts and burglaries on campus.”

Public Safety St. Paul campus manager Zachary DuBois told TommieMedia that the suspect was “not affiliated” with the university. According to the email, a St. Thomas student reported their wallet stolen from an unlocked locker in the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex Monday around 7:59 a.m., followed by a “financial transaction card” being used to buy gift cards.

Around 9:30 a.m. Monday, a St. Thomas student reported a person with the same description as the previous incident knocking on a door in Ireland Hall and letting himself into the room. Another St. Thomas student in a nearby room also reported personal property stolen from inside.

“Based on that now it’s happening more and the person’s coming back and just that it’s escalating to is some of the things that we wanted to send it out,” DuBois said.

According to the email, four similar crimes with the same suspect were also committed on Feb. 8, 10 and 19 in the AARC and the Anderson Student Center.

The St. Paul Police Department is involved in the investigation.

These incidents are unrelated to a harassment report from earlier Tuesday, according to DuBois.
