Public Safety notified the St. Thomas community via email about a person in a car following a St. Thomas student that “verbally harassed her near campus” Monday evening.

According to the email, the student reported crossing Summit Avenue near Finn Street when a dark gray Ford SUV “slammed on its brakes, rolled down the driver’s side window, and began to try and engage the student in conversation,” with the suspect continuing to engage with the student as they left. When Public Safety arrived, the suspect was gone.

“Due to the nature of the person approaching the students and especially in a vehicle and kind of aggressive nature of how he approached the student, we just found it concerning,” Public Safety St. Paul campus manager Zachary DuBois said.

Public Safety noted that it was concerning enough that “we want to be sure students are aware of it.”

“We just want to make sure we get the information out now so people can take appropriate actions,” DuBois said.
